At the intersection of good work and good times is where you will find conservationist Rich Redman characteristically “digging on life.” Whether casting a line in chilly waters of a favorite trout stream, matching wits with a wily whitetail or reforesting an endangered watershed, Rich’s enthusiasm for living each day to its fullest shines through in his new volume, Conservation Conversations: Book 2: Digging on Life.

Rich’s rollicking, award-winning outdoor essays have been published in a variety of local, state and national publications, and his first book in the Conservation Conversations series, Book 1: A Way of Life, was published in 2024 to an enthusiastic welcome. One of New York’s most authentic outdoors writers, there is little in the woods, waters and fields that Rich hasn’t experienced, and his insights are sure to enthrall anyone with a love of the natural world.

Rich Redman has lived in the Adirondacks for more than 40 years, working for the USDA Soil Conservation Service (SCS) in Clinton, Essex and Washington Counties, serving as a volunteer with the Moriah Volunteer Fire Department and the Essex County HAZMAT team.

Rivers are his passion, and restoration work and planting trees for buffers are his goals as a volunteer with Trout Unlimited. He is the Past President of the Lake Champlain Chapter.

Rich lives with his wife Diane in “the Best Town in America,“ Moriah, N.Y.
